Increase in natural stone thefts

Over recent years, there has been a surge in theft of Natural Yorkstone used in paving across many towns and properties in the UK. This has cost and is costing councils and homeowners thousands of pounds as they replace the stones to restore the traditional character and history these flags represent. In Kent, £6,000 worth of Yorkstone was stolen from the town centre but thieves posing as highway workers.  Natural stone can easily be stolen as it is very difficult to identify and trace. DNA glue has been introduced however, enabling councils and homeowners to recover their natural stone in some circumstances.
